The 7th
China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT)
opened in Xiamen of Fujian Province, east China, on Monday
morning.
It's the first large-scale international investment activity
in the country since the outbreak of severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic in April. The 4-day
annual investment promotion activity was sponsored by the
Ministry of Commerce and organized by the Fujian provincial
government.
Vice-Premier Wu Yi
attended the opening ceremony, at which someother high
ranking officials, including Tung Chee-hua, Hong Kong'sChief
Executive, and Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Macao's Chief Executive,
were also present.
Over 240
overseas delegations representing international
organizations, foreign governments, multinationals, business
associations and investment intermediate agencies have
registered for the fair. Delegations of enterprises and
government departments from the 31 provinces, autonomous
regions and municipalities on the Chinese mainland also
attend the fair.
