On December 5, 2011, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi who was attending the International Afghanistan Conference in Bonn met with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglun respectively.
During the meeting with Sikorski, Yang said that Poland is an important member of the EU and a major country in Central and Eastern Europe. It plays an active role in the regional and international affairs. China attaches importance to further strengthening relations with Poland and is willing to promote the bilateral exchanges in all fields and boost the long-term healthy and stable growth of the bilateral relations. China actively supports the EU to take measures to handle the European debt crisis and hopes to work with Poland to further enhance China-EU cooperation. Sikorski said that Poland hopes to strengthen the bilateral high-level contacts and mutually beneficial cooperation, push forward the bilateral relations and play a constructive role in the development of EU-China relations. The two sides agreed to make contributions to peace and reconstruction of Afghanistan.
When meeting with Terzi, Yang said that China and Italy are strategic partners. The bilateral relations are the role model of relations between China and EU members. China is willing to make joint efforts with Italy to further step up the bilateral relations. China admires that Italy adheres to the one-China policy and calls for the early elimination of obstacles to China-EU relations. He believes the Italian government is able to go through the debt crisis with its own efforts and the support of international community. China is willing to import more marketable goods from Italy and will encourage domestic enterprises to invest in Italy. China has confidence that the EU has the wisdom and ability to overcome current difficulties and maintain economic stability and growth. Terzi pointed out that the Italian government is willing to further strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership, advance the bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, trade, science and technological fields and play a constructive role to promote the development of EU-China relations. He also introduced the efforts of the new Italian government and the EU to address the sovereign debt crisis.
During the talks with Davutoglu, Yang said that China-Turkey relations grow soundly and China expects to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in all fields. Davutoglu noted that Turkey is committed to developing relations with China and reinforcing the bilateral friendly relations. The two sides also exchanged opinions on the regional and international issues of common concern.
