Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo Meets with Pakistani Foreign Minister

On December 23, 2011, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo, who is on an official visit in Pakistan, met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the Chinese State Councilor said that he came to Pakistan as a representative of the Chinese President Hu Jintao to attend the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the China-Pakistan diplomatic relations and the China-Pakistan Friendship Year and convey to Pakistan the friendly sentiments and firm determination for further developing the bilateral relations on behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people. He said that China takes Pakistan as its sincere and reliable friend and strategic partner, it supports the efforts of Pakistan for safeguarding its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as for achieving its stability and development, and China is willing to see a good relationship between Pakistan and all its neighbors and other countries.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister said that China is the only strategic partner of Pakistan in the world and the friendship between the two countries is deeply rooted in the hearts of the Pakistani people. Pakistan views China as its real friend and cherishes all the support and help that China has rendered as always. She said that while dealing with external relations and regional affairs, Pakistan has no intention to have confrontations with any side, instead it is a stabilizing factor. However, she said that violation of Pakistan's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity can not be tolerated and Pakistan hopes that every party will take Pakistan as a dignified partner and is willing to work together with the international community to promote the peace in the region.
