On January 12, 2014, President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of Tanzania met with Jiang Weixin, Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping and Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, at the Presidential Palace of Zanzibar.

Jiang Weixin conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes from President Xi Jinping to Kikwete and expressed warm congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the victory of Zanzibar Revolution. Jiang Weixin said, China and Tanzania enjoy profound traditional friendship. Kikwete thanked President Xi Jinping for sending Special Envoy Jiang Weixin to attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the victory of Zanzibar Revolution and asked the Special Envoy to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping.
