On January 24, 2014, Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao attended the launching ceremony for the "Year of China-India Friendly Exchange" hosted by the Embassy of India in Beijing.

Li Yuanchao said, China-India relations are now facing new opportunities for development. China and India, coexisting peacefully, engaging in mutually beneficial cooperation and seeking for common development, will benefit the people of the two countries and contribute to peace, stability and prosperity of Asia and even the world. China is willing to join efforts with India, taking the opportunity of celebrating the Year of Friendly Exchange and commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, to uplift China-India strategic cooperative partnership to new highs .
