China, Russia and India Hold Consultation on the Issue of Afghanistan

On January 16, 2014, China-Russia-India Consultation on the Issue of Afghanistan was held in Beijing. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin chaired the consultation. Yevgeny Lukyanov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation (SCRF) and Nehchal Sandhu, Deputy National Security Advisor of India attended the consultation together.

The three sides mainly exchanged views on Afghanistan and the situation in this region and unanimously believed that the future development of the situation in Afghanistan is closely connected with the security and stability of this region. As neighbors of Afghanistan, China, Russia and India support the progress of peaceful reconstruction and reconciliation in Afghanistan and are committed to safeguarding the peace, stability and development of Afghanistan and the region. The three sides agreed to enhance communication and coordination concerning the issue of Afghanistan. Russia and India spoke highly of China for being the host of the fourth Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process this year and expressed their willingness to offer strong support and coordination.
