On February 14, 2014, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi exchanged views on the situation of the Korean Peninsula with US Secretary of State John Kerry during their talks. Wang Yi stated the position of the Chinese side.

　　Wang Yi stressed, China is a close neighbor of the Korean Peninsula and has major concerns of interests there. China’stance has been consistent and clear, which is to promote the denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, to maintain its peace and stability, and to insist on the peaceful solution of the issue through dialogues and negotiation. China will never allow any chaos or war on the Peninsula and China is serious in both words and actions. It is imperative to seize the opportunity to resume dialogue as soon as possible. It is hoped that all parties concerned take a holistic approach, remain cautious about their words and deeds, show great flexibility and do more to help ease the situation and take practical steps to create favorable conditions to resume the Six-Party Talks so as to bring the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) nuclear issue back to a sustainable, irreversible, effective track of dialogue. China is willing to work together with all sides concerned, including the US, in an effort to continue to play a constructive role in maintaining regional peace and stability.
