Foreign Minister Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye of Senegal

On February 17, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye of Senegal in Beijing.

Wang Yi briefed Mankeur Ndiaye the progress of the preparation work of the Chinese side for the upcoming state visit of Senegalese President Macky Sall to China. He expressed that Senegal is an important country in Africa with regional and international influence. China highly values China-Senegal relationship and hopes to further promote the bilateral comprehensive cooperation in all areas. President Macky Sall will be the first head of state from Africa to be greeted by President Xi Jinping this year. China is willing to make joint efforts with Senegal to ensure the visit a complete success.

Mankeur Ndiaye said that Senegal attaches great importance to the bilateral relations, regards China as a strategic partner of Senegal, and gives firm support to China in international affairs. President Macky Sall has high hopes for his visit to China, hoping to further promote the bilateral friendly cooperative relations. He is also willing to have extensive exchanges of views with President Xi Jinping on Africa’s development and other topics.
