On February 21, 2014, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met with Senegalese President Macky Sall at the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang Dejiang positively evaluated the fruitful results achieved in the China-Senegal relations since the reestablishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Senegal eight years ago. He said that the healthy and stable China-Senegal relations comply with the development trend of China-Africa relations and conform to the fundamental interests of the two countries and two peoples. President Xi Jinping and President Sall reached important consensus, laying out a comprehensive blueprint for future growth of bilateral relations, which indicates that the bilateral cooperation enjoys a bright future. The NPC of China would like to work along with the National Assembly of Senegal to promote the establishment of a long-term China-Senegal friendly cooperative partnership at the parliamentary level, congregate more forces who are in favor of China-Senegal friendship, engage in bilateral cooperation in politics, economy and trade, humanity and other fields, and provide strong intellectual support and sound legal backup for the development of the long-term, stable and sound bilateral relations.

Sall said the NPC plays a very important role in China's political life. It is convinced that with the support of the legislative bodies of the two countries, Senegal-China relations will see a faster and better development.
