On February 26, 2014, French President Francois Hollande met with Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi in Paris.

Yang Jiechi said that since the establishment of China-France diplomatic relationship 50 years ago, bilateral relations have achieved positive progress continuously, and have been at the forefront of China-West relations for a long time. Mr. President paid a successful visit to China last year, during which President Xi Jinping and Mr. President jointly planned the celebration activities of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relationship and the future development of China-France relations, achieving a good start for China-France relations in the new era. China is willing to make joint efforts with France to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, further strengthen high-level exchanges, conscientiously sum up the successful experience in the development of bilateral relations, systematically plan and comprehensively advance the exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and constantly enhance the strategic characteristic and international influence of China-France relations so as to elevate the bilateral relations to a higher level.

Hollande said that France and China share broad common interests, and have conducted sound cooperation in all fields. France pays high attention to the France-China relations, and ardently looks forward to Chinese leader's visit to France in celebration of the significant historic moment marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of France-China diplomatic relationship together, so as to comprehensively promote the cooperation between the two countries and make the bilateral relations closer.

On the same day, Yang Jiechi also jointly held the new round of China-France strategic dialogue with French President's Diplomatic Advisor Paul Jean-Ortiz, and met with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.
