Yang Jiechi and French President's Diplomatic Advisor Paul Jean-Ortiz Hold China-France Strategic Dialogue

On February 26, 2014, Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi and French President's Diplomatic Advisor Paul Jean-Ortiz held the new round of China-France strategic dialogue in Paris. Both sides had in-depth exchanges of views on China-France relations and international as well as regional issues of common concern, and reached broad consensus.

Yang Jiechi said that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and France 50 years ago, bilateral relations have achieved substantial progress. Over the past year, French President, Prime Minister and Speaker visited China successively and the bilateral relations have entered a fast track. China is willing to make joint efforts with the French side to continuously stick to view and handle bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, to respect and care for each other's core interests and major concerns and to further deepen strategic mutual trust, so as to promote China-France relations to achieve greater development at a new starting point.

Yang Jiechi said that China and France should continue to keep close high-level exchanges, further expand fields of cooperation with an innovative and win-win concept, create new highlights in practical cooperation and broaden common interests. Both sides should enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, well organize the commemorative activity of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relationship and enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries, especially between the youth. Both sides should also keep close communication and cooperation in international affairs, and strengthen coordination on such issues as climate change, anti-terrorism and peace-keeping so as to make contributions to the peace, prosperity and development of the world.

Paul Jean-Ortiz said that France-China relations have always maintained a sound development. The French side attaches great importance to the relations with China, and is willing to take the opportunity of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relationship to further strengthen high-level exchanges as well as communication and dialogues in various fields, to improve the cooperation mechanism and to expand the scale of cooperation, so as to make substantial achievements in France-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
