China is willing to join the efforts with the United States, along the course of building the new model of the major-country relationship, respecting and being considerate to the core interests and major concerns of each other, enhancing dialogue, mutual trust and cooperation, in a bid to achieve sustainable, healthy and stable development of China-U.S. relations. I am looking forward to the next meeting with President Obama in the near future, and I welcome the upcoming visit of your wife, Mrs. Michelle Obama.

Obama said that U.S.-China relations have made positive progress since their meeting at the Annenberg Retreat last year. President Xi Jinping said, we are very much worried about the safety of everybody on board, including Chinese and U.S. passengers as well as the crew members. I have, at the very first time, instructed the related departments to carry out search and rescue operations and to prepare for emergency response and follow-up works. China will stay in close contact with the United States.

President Obama also mourned the victims of the violent terrorist attack in Kunming, Yunnan Province. He said that the United States condemns all forms of terrorism and stands ready to cooperate with China combating against terrorism. Xi Jinping stressed, terrorism is the enemy for all human beings. China is willing to strengthen the cooperation with the international community, including the United States, to fight against all forms of terrorism.

Obama briefed the US views on the current situation of Ukraine. Xi Jinping stressed, China holds an objective and fair position on Ukraine issue. Given the complexity of the Ukrainian situation, it is the first priority for all parties concerned to remain calm and exercise restraint in order to avoid the escalation of the tension. It should be insisted to finding the solution to the crisis through political and diplomatic means. Hope that all parties concerned would tackle the differences through communication and coordination, making efforts for political solution to the Ukraine issue. China adopts an open attitude toward any proposals and suggestions that could help ease the tension in Ukraine and is willing to keep in contact with the United States and other relevant parties on the issue.
