The Joint Work Team Sent by the Chinese Government Arrives in Kuala Lumpur

On March 10 local time, a joint work team sent by the Chinese government, with Guo Shaochun, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the team leader, arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia in the evening.

The team will work with the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia and the Malaysian side to cope with the incident of loss of contact of the Malaysia Airlines flight. They will urge the Malaysian side to intensify search efforts, and to find out the fact of the incident as soon as possible.

Guo Shaochun said at the airport that the work team came to Malaysia with very clear goal. That is to work with the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia on the incident of the loss of contact of the Malaysia Airlines flight. He said the Chinese side will keep close contact and communication with the Malaysian side and urge the Malaysian side to speed up its investigation of the incident, to timely release the information, to further expand its cooperation with other countries concerned and to intensify search and rescue efforts.

Guo Shaochun said that the team will cooperate with the Malaysian side to well arrange and provide service for the family members of the Chinese passengers on board, who are coming to Malaysia. He said, "We are waiting just as anxiously as they are. We hope their beloved ones could return safe and sound."

Guo Shaochun told the media at the airport that the work team would start their work immediately that night.

Besides, in the afternoon the same day, a work team sent by the Chinese Ministry of Public Security met with Hishammuddin Hussein, Acting Minister of Transport of Malaysia, at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The two sides held a close-door meeting and consulted on the focus questions about the incident of the loss of contact of the Malaysia Airlines flight.
